Skrinking NetOffice for Excel

Oct 3, 2011 at 11:11 PM

NetOffice works fine with my EXCEL application.

The only issue I have is the size of the dll files.
What would be the best approach to shrink the files and excluding libraries that I don't need?

So far I am just using the COM Events, for everything else I am using the API access within EXCELDna.

hey Holger,

"NetOffice works fine with my EXCEL application."
the most important thing all the time ;)
NetOffice want to be an easy API without any trouble.

you want to shrink the assemblies? why?
as first you dont need any of all netoffice assemblies.
here is a part of the NetOffice deployment table from the documentation:

ExcelApi.dll
  OfficeApi.dll
  VBIDEApi.dll
  LateBindingApi.Core.dll

this is what you need to use excel.
as a second step delete the source code documentation files(.xml)
as a third step remove all unsed types and enums from source code and build your own NetOffice assemblies.
if you need signed custom assemblies, send me your modified source code.
helps?

Thanks Sebastian.

Did I mention that NetOffice works great =;-)

The ExcelApi.dll is ~ 2.4Mb and the OfficeApi.dll ~0.6Mb.
I would lile to email the final application, so size matters.

I will follow you advise and remove types and enums.
