Building a Windows Service meant to run on Exchange Server

Can NetOffice be used to access Exchange from a Windows Service on the Exchange Server itself?

We've been asked to convert the background processing that our Outlook Add-in does to a service that can always be running on the exchange server. I'm hoping to re-use a lot of the code from the Add-in that uses NetOffice.

You want to call the Exchange Server directly? The best way to do this the EWS API(an XML based remote API from MS-Exchange).
But you cant' re-use any code any code in this scenario. MS Exchange API code is not compatible with MS-Outlook code in general.
(May i can help you here to convert your code because i'm an EWS API expert)

Another way is to use outlook(or the Mapi API-deprecated by Microsoft) local(not recommended)
